• Bold, minimal, 'not wood' — all our client asked for at Castlebank Place. We embraced this freedom, creating a scheme that highlighted the pink tones throughout their apartment. The design centered on a continuous run of floor and wall cabinets, a monolithic concrete worktop and splashback, and a standalone fridge freezer cabinet in contrasting grey.

The cabinetry and doors were hand-built from Valchromat (a innovative sheet material, technically made from wood fibres..) before being hand stained with Osmo Wood Wax in a custom RAL-matched colour called ’Claret Violet'. The result was a deep pink that felt both refined and bold in unison.

This new layout replaced a tired L-shaped kitchen that utilised space poorly. In total, we increased storage by over 30%, greatly improved flow, and provided better access to all cabinets.

  • The cabinetry was paired with a 40mm thick cast concrete worktop and splashback in a lighter pink tone, weighing over 300kg in total. It was designed in house and built to spec by stonemason Charles Myatt.

Black appliances and hardware, including a mixer tap by Dowsing & Reynolds and an oven and hob from Samsung's Infinite line, are illuminated by a hidden LED strip.

The integrated extractor fan cupboard was designed to store all wiring and electrical components behind two removable panels, allowing for additional storage space in an often under utilised area.

Our final touch was a Valchromat wall unit - with matching concrete shelves - to complete the space and provide additional storage for glassware.
