• Our Lyndhurst Gardens project presented an enjoyable challenge. The client sought to maximise functionality and storage within the tight confines of a traditional kitchen recess in a Victorian tenement flat, whilst also preserving a minimal aesthetic with subtle nods to the mid-century.

Our solution was to produce a fully bespoke layout centered around a handcrafted display cabinet spanning the entire back wall, elegantly increasing storage behind fluted glass and open shelving. Dropping the fridge height coupled with clever internal space saving methods increased function and light without minimising design style. Situated minutes from the leafy Kelvin Walkway, we introduced a palette of rich, earthy tones and materials that looked to nature.

  • Alluding to the mid-century furniture scattered throughout the client's home, we opted for real cherry veneer with solid cherry edging for the doors and display cabinet, lending a rich and timeless quality to the space. The worktop, made from Foresso's 'No-chip' surface, provides durability while complementing the texture and colour of the imported Japanese tiles and tactile cork floor.

Additionally, pull-out baskets were used in the lower cabinets to utilise their full volume, alongside hand built internal drawers. The lower cabinet doors, painted in a soft beige hue by File Under Pop, add lightness to the scheme. The finishing touches include distinctive tap hardware, delicate bottle shelving running the length of one wall, a unique cherry drawer tray that fits the client’s cutlery, and a set of fully bespoke door knobs. These solid brass knobs - the first in a series of four exclusive pieces designed in-house by Studio—Teller - are sand-cast by GW Lunt before being meticulously finished by our team.
